Friday

Well. It is Friday. I love Fridays.  As it is 11.35 pm, and my lovely husband is snozing on the sofa, I thought I'd just post a montage of photos from the last week.

I  took this snap (above) when Harv decided to see how many Duplo people he could cram into Roly - Bob the Builder's lorry. There were 4 of the plastic rascals in there.

Hair today...

On Sunday, we all trotted off to Alex's Christening, and a fun time was had by all.  Some would say that inviting Harvey, Ben, Mabel, Sam, Sophie and Daniel (all of whom are 19 months old and a bag full of wriggleness) to sit in a Church for 30 minutes, would be madness.  They would be quite right.  About 5 minutes into the service Ben had fallen off a pew, Harvey was yelling "Dadddddieeeee" and Mabel and Sophie were running around the graveyard.  Soon all of the children were running around the graveyard.  Harvey fell on a grave.  More than once.  Sorry about that, Eda Jones, may you rest in peace from now on.

Back at Alex's house, the children played, parents drank to Alex's good health and godly upbringing.  The children also ate cake.

Harv is pictured here with his great pal Ben.  Ben sometimes has vertical hair.  He is lovely, and a brilliant example of a signing baby.  He even signed the colours 'yellow' and 'red' today.  In the right places!!!  Talking of hair.....

Whoops.  Grandma may not be too pleased about Harvey's hair cut.  At Kat's house today we decided it was time for a trim.  Harv ended up with a number 4 all over.  He looks like a right thug.

By popular demand..

..I have decided to tell those of you not there, about the goings-on of last Saturday night.  A momentous day as it was MadDonna's 30th.  At last she is in the same decade as the rest of us, so can wipe the 'I'm younger than you' smugness from her lovely face.

Most of us at Donna's do have been friends for a long time.  We all like a tipple.  Fondness for wine + a reason to celebrate = danger.  We went to a very nice restaurant in Hitchin.  We probably will never go there again.  To the couple behind us, trying to have a quiet meal, I can only apologise and blame Jane for the noise.

I made Donna this rather splendid cake

Here are a few snaps from the evening

As usual, the girls ended up kissing everyone.  I have a horrible feeling I usually start this.  Not quite sure what Donna is doing here....fishing for rice I think

Dsc00576

Our table had one of those revolving lazy-susan type things in the centre, and deep into the evening we placed the camera on the revolving thingy and made a little video on auto-timer.  OH. MY GOD.  Leave a comment if you want me to email it to you.  Suffice it to say, I felt like death the next day, as did Jane and Jev - who's house we continued at after we had emptied the restaurant of civilized folk.  Donna, however, was chipper. Sickening really.  I am too old for this going out and making a fool of myself malarkey.  Problem is..it is SUCH fun! I hope Harvey is lucky enough to have such fun and good friends as we do.  Have a lovely weekend. xxxxx

Obsessive-compulsive?

After I got out of the shower, Harv stash of nappies - which were once neatly stacked in his room - looked like this

Dsc00600

I can only assume the initial sequence of events went like this

Dsc00601_1

and into our bedroom

Dsc00602

and repeat, until satisfied with end result

Dsc00603

My initial reaction was to make Harvey put all of the nappies back, and he did.  But, then he started again, this time to the bathroom

I guess it was fun!

Twenty things that happended in France

1. Harvey started to use walking unaided as his preferred mode of transport.  Hooray!

2. It rained.  A lot.

3. Learned how to say 'Mummy', 'Daddy' and 'cracker'.

4. He developed a taste for fizzy water and orangina

5. He ate a croissant for breakfast everyday.  So did I.  Am now on day 4 of the pastry detox.  Not looking forward to Weight Watchers on Thursday.

6. Ian spent many an hour chasing Harv around the villa with a wooden chair.

7. We learned that you can leave Playdoh out of its container for almost 2 weeks and still play with it.

8. Someone had 2 wees, and 1 something else, whilst nappy-less at the pool.

9.  French people thought Harv was gorgeous.  I like the French.

10. Harv and Grandad Crazy did man-stuff.

Dsc00929

11.  Grandma and Harv picked many peaches

12. Harv ate loads of grapes straight from the vine.

13.  I drank too much.

14. I ate too much.

15. Charlie spent sunny days baking himself by the pool, and then staggering off into the shade.  Silly dog.

16. Davin saw a wild boar.

17. Harvey drank very dilute red wine at a restaurant.

Dsc00957

18.  Ian, Helen and Davin drove to the wine caves to stock up on the red stuff.  They found the way using Ian's SatNav.  Sadly, had it been left to the electronic navigator, Davin's car would now be covered in grapes after advising him to 'go straight on' into a vineyard. Ha!

19. I asked Davin if he preferred his manual KayNav.  He said 'yes, but her voice is a bit whiny. Grrr.

20. Considering it was a day and a half drive there and back, both Harvey and Charlie were very good boys.

The last post

for 2 weeks anyway, as we are off to the lovely south of France tomorrow to visit the Grandparents.  Not much looking forward to the drive as Harv is renowned for being a nightmare on car journeys.  However, we have bought the JCB song on CD so hopefully that will chill him out a bit.  What with stops for Harvey and the dog, the journey will take about a day and a half.  Please send 'good luck' vibes. Helen and Ian are coming with us, and as Helen is 8 months pregnant, the holiday could be interesting.  The baby car seat is being packed just in case!

Harvey's other obsession (other than cars that is), is people.  Of the plastic variety.  Meet the family...

Dsc00544

..and this is only a selection of them. Thank gawd for eBay. Our house may end up being a graveyard for unwanted Lego/Duplo/Playmobil people from all over the UK.  Harvey likes to take their heads off, and then sign for 'help'

Dsc00545

This is not really a fun game for me.  Superglue may be employed in the near future.

See you in 2 weeks.
